Room C
Sharon will introduce sculpture as a way of working with the figure. Emphasis will be on gesture and developing the essence of the figure. Most important will be capturing the feeling of the figure. Class size limited to 12. There is a materials fee for this class. (
more details about materials & the fee)
Suggested Supplies:
3 Options:
Purchase Materials from us!
$65 Materials fee covers the cost of supplies. Participants will take their sculpture home with them at the end of the workshop. Oil-based clay (about 5 lbs per sculpture) and an 18" (1/3rd life size) flexible, portable armature made from bendable aluminum wire (mounted on a stand) will be used.
Or...Bring your own!
If you have your own oil-based clay and armature and would like to join the class, the materials fee is waived. Please note that water based clay does not work with armature and is not suitable for this presentation. Please let us know by March 31st if you will be bringing your own materials so we know how many armatures Sharon needs to prepare.
Or...Reserve an armature!
Open Figure Drawing has three armatures to loan (first come first serve, by March 31). If you wish to borrow these, the materials fee is waived. Please reserve your armature with Dan Shanahan by sending him an
e-mail. Please note that by borrowing these, you will not be able to take your sculpture home with you. The armature and the clay will have to be returned to OFD (bring a camera to document your work!)
