Barbara J. Higgens

Barbara "Barb" J. Higgens, 52, of Orchard Drive in Fayetteville, died Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Loretto Fahey in Syracuse. Barbara was a native of Miami, FL, and resided in Petaluma, CA, for 25 years before moving to Syracuse in 1998.

Barb attended Santa Rosa Junior College in CA, Onondaga Community College and OCM Boces. She was employed by Catholic Sun in Syracuse for eight years as a Graphic Artist. Barb was an accomplished artist, had been commissioned for several paintings, and begun a formal education in art. She was a board member for Open Figure Drawing, Inc., and recently displayed her artwork titled "Art Not Apathy" at the Fayetteville Free Library this past May.

She was predeceased by her Father, Leonard V. Higgens. Surviving are her mother: Beverly Gunderson of North Syracuse; two sisters: Karen Aumick of OR and Terry Garcia of Hollywood, FL; her two brothers: Robert Orizino of Baldwinsville and David Orizino of Chittenango; an aunt: Sally (Joe) Brisson of Mattydale; her uncle: Kevin (Donna) Perrigo of Liverpool; and several cousins, as well as her many friends from the art community who were so supportive.

Barb was a board member, news letter editor, and co-host ever since she started attending Open Figure Drawing.
