This is a call for figurative submissions from the OFD community. The working title is: Now and Then. Slightly different from past show we are looking for pairs of images, old and new images. Please bring your ready to hang pair(s) of images (2/4/6 pieces) to the WCC in April thru May).
Last call for work is Saturday, May 28th, from 3 - 5 pm at the Westcott Community Center. Thursday, June 2, is the tentative date for the opening. If you have not exhibited with OFD before you are still invited. Please submit a pair of images, one from a current session and earlier pre-OFD image. Please mark the year the images were made.
The focus of the group exhibit would be highlighting the non-formal learning experiences of the open community studio. Non-formal learning occurs in professional arenas over time, not in semesters, but occasionally, thus Now and Then. We would like to collect work from 25-40 artists with 2-4 pairs of artwork, one of a past exhibit and one current (show size of ~125 pieces of figurative art).
Our goal is slightly different from other shows, assembling an exhibit of figure drawings from the participants which illustrate growth over time. Our target would be to elicit pairs of images (one previously exhibited and one new, again Now and Then) from each artist which may indicate a change of medium, approach, or general growth over time with involvement with OFD Inc. Since the group has provided opportunity to draw from a live model for 22 years we expect to collect a unique look at the local art community.
The last day of the show is July 22.

The "Rules"
-
All work must be framed & have a wire for hanging from a picture hook. Covering with plexiglass or glass to protect them may insure their safety.
-
Anyone who has come to Open Figure Drawing may submit up to 3 pairs of artwork. Each pair should consist of one old and one new piece of artwork.
-
Pieces must have your name and phone or other contact information (e-mail or street address) on the back to assure proper identification. We also suggest signing and dating your work.
Submit an entry form (PDF version) with your artwork to ensure it is included in the catalog.
-
OFD Inc. takes no responsibility for loss or damage to the pieces. Please package your artwork carefully.
Be sure to mark all the packing materials with your name or initials. Labeling your packaging material helps us repackage it when we take the show down. In the history of the shows we have only encountered problems with cracked glass on fast-frame pieces.
Hint for packing your artwork: Protect the corners; place a piece of cardboard (big enough to cover the frame) over the glass; and place in a garbage bag or other protective wrapping.
-
Pieces must be delivered to the Westcott Community Center by Wednesday, May 15, 7-10 pm. Pick up will start the Wednesday after the show ends. You will have 3 months to pick up your artwork. Pieces not claimed by that time will be auctioned as a fundraiser for OFD Inc. It is your responsibility to arrange pickup.
-
All work is to be published in the OFD Inc. catalog. Submissions may also be used for advertising or other promotions in print or the Web.
-
Work can be for sale, but does not have to be. Sales will be handled between the buyer and the individual artist.
-
This is a non-juried show; everyone is guaranteed at least one piece will be displayed!
